THE URBAN DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE OF AUSTRALIA (UDIA) is Australia’s peak representative body for all segments of the urban development industry.

Last night UDIA (Qld)’s National EnviroDevelopment Manager, Kirsty Chessher, took part in a panel discussion on sustainability and growth on ABC’s Radio National ‘Drive’ program. Kirsty was joined by Dermot O’Gorman, Chief Executive of conservation group WWF Australia, to discuss a new report from the group which claims that spiralling global population, over-consumption and pollution are using up the world's natural resources faster than they can regenerate. At the conclusion of the discussion, Mr O'Gorman gave a broad endorsement of UDIA (Qld)'s sustainability strategies, noting that the debate needs to move on from 'Environment vs. Development'.
